The Three C's of Writing a Superior Resume
Your Resume Should be Clear
- Your “objective” should clearly and definitively state the position or category
of position for which you have interest.
- Your relevant work experience and accomplishments are easily identified at a glance.
- Focus on the results of your unique, tangible contributions to past employers.
- Describe cost-effective accomplishments in dollars and cents.
Your Resume Should be Concise
- Describe your work history, accomplishments, and education in less than two pages.
- Include enough “white space” to make it more readable.
- Use bullet points and short statement rather than complete paragraphs to describe
work experience, accomplishments, and education.
Your Resume Should be Complete
- Ensure your resume does not show unexplained gaps in your career.
- List your most recent position first, followed with positions in descending chronological
order.
- List your most recent educational experience first, followed by others in descending
chronological order.
- Include pertinent specialty certifications, memberships, honors and awards.
- Do not include personal information, such as marital status and hobbies.
- Ensure your cover letter is addressed to the right person with the correct spelling,
credentials, and title.
