The Three C's of Writing a Superior Resume

• Your “objective” should clearly and definitively state the position or category of position for which you have interest.
• Your relevant work experience and accomplishments are easily identified at a glance.
• Focus on the results of your unique, tangible contributions to past employers.
• Describe cost-effective accomplishments in dollars and cents.

• Describe your work history, accomplishments, and education in less than two pages.
• Include enough “white space” to make it more readable.
• Use bullet points and short statement rather than complete paragraphs to describe work experience, accomplishments, and education.

• Ensure your resume does not show unexplained gaps in your career.
• List your most recent position first, followed with positions in descending chronological order.
• List your most recent educational experience first, followed by others in descending chronological order.
• Include pertinent specialty certifications, memberships, honors and awards.
• Do not include personal information, such as marital status and hobbies.
• Ensure your cover letter is addressed to the right person with the correct spelling, credentials, and title.
